So this morning I packed our picnic (but forgot the blanket!!) and we set off. Myself or Dean have never been to Powerscourt so didn't know what to expect. And just so you know the gardens and waterfall aren't actually in the same place but you'd definitely visit both in the same day. We went to the gardens first and they were fabulous!
It was such a lovely walk with loads of ponds, streams, bridges and plenty of trees and flowers of course! There was a gorgeous Japanese garden section with little hidden paths, cute arch ways and tiny little pebble ponds that you could just hop over....except for the child we saw who fell in, there's always one!!
After the Japanese garden there was a lovely forest walkway. The gardens weren't too busy so it was a nice quite stroll for me and Dean. But poor Dean, I made him pose for a picture every two minutes! He should be used to it by now though!
We finished up with a walk in the rose garden and headed into the cafe for a coffee, and a browse in the shops. All the items on sale were gorgeous but for once I refrained from buying anything!
We had to do a bit of rock climbing to get up close to the waterfall but be warned...them €4 plimsoles from Penneys are not good enough! Mine ripped straight away! We still managed to get right beside the waterfall though and had a nice relaxing time before we started our picnic. No picnic is complete without rice crispie buns!
After our picnic we followed a little trail that was just as picturesque as everything else!
Both me and Dean absolutely loved our day out, it was something a bit different but definitely worth the spin to Wicklow. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and very cheap as well.
