I LOVE Christmas Ornaments and try to buy some new ones every year. While searching for shops to join the Give Away Extravaganza - I came across Townsend Custom Gifts, an amazing shop full of the cutest ornament! They even have one for kids with Braces! Now if only I had found this last year! Logan just got his braces off, but I may have to purchase this one anyways. It's just too cute!
*Where are you from? Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am from Michigan. I have lived here my whole life. I am currently living in Clarkston with my husband Greg and two of my four kids. It is a small little town just north of the Metro Detroit Area with a very rural feel to it. I live on 5 acres of property which is lovely because I have room for my garden (which is huge by the way) and lots of space for my 30 or so chickens and ducks. You will most likely find me outside in my yard, whenever the weather permits, either weeding my many flower gardens, vegetable garden or herb garden. My chickens and ducks are "free range" so they are likely to greet you as you enter my yard. I definitely feel like the "Pied Piper" at dinner time.
*Do you have any family Christmas Traditions?
I guess my family tradition would be centered around the foods we always like for the holiday. My mom's breakfast pecan roll hot from the oven with a warm steamy cup of coffee while we make our kids wait to open their presents and drag out the suspense! The christmas cookies we leave out for Santa..even though my kids are older now, and the footprints that are visible in the morning from Santa's feet (flour works great by the way)
*What or who inspires you.
I guess my kids inspire me. They are my greatest fans. They are so proud of what I have accomplished with my art.
*What are 5 things you want people to think when they see your product?
I want people to identify with my ornaments. I try to create themes that will make people think of a certain person in their life. I have heard so many times that a particular ornament is "just perfect" for someone. That makes me happy. I want them to be cute, whimsical, and to make people smile!
*What is the best part of Christmas for you?
The best part of Christmas for me is family. I just love to have all of my kids around me. There is nothing more important than family.
*Which Christmas item in your shop did you enjoy making the most and why?
It would have to be the snowman that I put the braces on. I made the dental ornament and a lady who works for an orthodontist wanted something for her office. I came up with the idea of the wire on the mouth and rhinestones for the brackets. It turned out to be a great gift for all of those teenagers who have to wear braces.
