Does the Left want the U.S. to go in the same direction as Britain?

CBD writes in Ace of Spades,

Donald Trump is our protection from the multi-generation idiocy that is currently destroying Britain. And we are very lucky to have him, because we are on the same progression as post-war Britain, only a few generations behind. Is there any difference between their importation of much of South Asia, the National Health Service, cradle-to-grave welfare, and a host of other insanities, and what is currently on the forefront of much of the American Left's rhetoric?
